IET Lucknow Admission WorkflowUPTAC / JEE Main
1. Regular Counselling

Admissions run through UPTAC based on JEE Main ranks, covering four regular rounds followed by an Internal Sliding phase.

2. Allotment & Cutoffs

Lock your seat with a ₹20k fee. CSE is highly competitive (closes ~49k General), while Chemical extends up to ~1.06 Lakh.

3. Physical Verification

Head to the Institute Auditorium near the main gate with original academic and ID proofs for final document clearance.

4. Spot Counselling

A final chance for vacant seats (mostly Civil/Chemical) after withdrawals. Entirely dependent on real-time vacancy and merit.

The counselling process generally consists of four rounds of seat allotment followed by an Internal Sliding round. During these stages, candidates are allotted branches according to their JEE Main rank, category, and preference order. Once a seat is allotted, candidates are required to confirm their willingness by depositing a seat acceptance fee of ₹20,000. This amount is not an additional charge; rather, it is adjusted against the institute fees at the time of final admission. Among all undergraduate programmes, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) remains the most competitive branch at IET Lucknow. Based on recent admission trends, the CSE programme generally opens around the 40,000 rank range and closes near 49,000 under the General category. For candidates whose primary objective is to secure admission to the institute irrespective of branch preference, programmes such as Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering typically have comparatively higher closing ranks. In recent counselling cycles, Chemical Engineering admissions have extended to approximately the 1,06,000 rank range, allowing a larger pool of candidates to gain entry into the institute. After a seat has been allotted through counselling, candidates must report to the institute for physical document verification. This process is generally conducted in the institute auditorium located near the main entrance of the campus. During verification, students are required to present all necessary academic certificates, identity documents, counselling records, and other prescribed documents. Upon successful verification, the institute confirms the admission and issues the official allotment and admission-related documents required for enrollment. For candidates who are unable to secure a seat during the regular counselling rounds, an additional opportunity is available through the Spot Counselling process. Spot counselling is conducted to fill seats that remain vacant after the completion of all regular rounds, internal sliding, and withdrawal procedures. These vacancies arise when admitted candidates choose not to join the institute or surrender their allotted seats. Historically, the majority of such vacancies have been observed in branches such as Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering, where a limited number of seats may remain available. To participate in spot counselling, candidates must complete the required registration process through the counselling authority and follow the instructions issued for vacant-seat admissions. Since seat availability depends entirely on withdrawals and vacant positions, the closing ranks during spot admissions can vary significantly from year to year. In certain cases, candidates with comparatively higher JEE Main ranks may also secure admission if seats remain available and competition is limited. However, allotment is always subject to vacancy status, merit, and counselling guidelines applicable for that particular admission cycle. Overall, the admission procedure at IET Lucknow is transparent, structured, and entirely merit-driven. With admissions based on JEE Main performance, multiple counselling opportunities, branch upgradation through internal sliding, and the possibility of admission through spot counselling, the institute provides several pathways for eligible candidates to secure a seat in one of Uttar Pradesh’s leading government engineering colleges.

Because of this limited intake, you will face serious competition for every single engineering seat. Furthermore, since IET has a prime location in the capital city of Lucknow, the ranks close incredibly fast during the initial regular rounds. Unlike other state colleges, very few seats are left vacant for the spot round here, making it essential to evaluate these previous year stats carefully before locking your final choices.

Fee Structure of IET Lucknow

The tuition fee at IET Lucknow varies according to the programme in which a student is enrolled. For the regular B.Tech. programmes, including Computer Science and Engineering (Regular), Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, the annual tuition fee is approximately ₹89,775.

Fee TypeYearly Amount (₹)Details
Tuition Fee (Regular Branches)₹89,775CSE, Chemical, Civil, Mech, EE
Tuition Fee (Specialized Branches)₹1,04,775CSE (AI) & CSE (Self-Finance)
Hostel Fee₹14,500Yearly room charges
Mess Charges₹40,000₹20,000 per semester
Total Cost (Regular Hosteller)~ ₹1.44 LakhTuition + Hostel + Mess
Total Cost (Specialized Hosteller)~ ₹1.59 LakhTuition + Hostel + Mess

These branches represent the traditional engineering disciplines offered by the institute and constitute a major portion of the undergraduate intake each year through the UPTAC counselling process. In addition to the regular programmes, the institute also offers specialized Computer Science programmes such as Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) and Computer Science and Engineering (Self-Finance). For these programmes, the annual tuition fee is approximately ₹1,04,775. Although the fee is slightly higher than that of the regular branches, students continue to study within the same academic environment and benefit from the same institutional infrastructure, campus facilities, and student activities available throughout the institute. For students who choose to reside within the campus, hostel accommodation is available at an annual hostel fee of approximately ₹14,500. The hostels provide residential facilities for students from different academic years and programmes, making campus life more convenient and reducing the need for daily travel. In addition to the hostel charges, students are also required to pay mess fees separately. The mess fee is approximately ₹20,000 per semester, which amounts to nearly ₹40,000 per year. These charges cover the dining facilities provided to hostel residents throughout the academic session. When all major expenses are considered together, the overall annual expenditure for a hosteller enrolled in one of the regular engineering branches is approximately ₹1.44 lakh. This figure includes tuition fees, hostel accommodation charges, and mess expenses. Similarly, students pursuing CSE (Artificial Intelligence) or CSE (Self-Finance) can expect an annual expenditure of approximately ₹1.59 lakh after accounting for tuition, hostel, and mess charges. Students who do not opt for hostel accommodation are required to pay only the applicable academic fees and related institutional charges, resulting in a substantially lower overall cost. An important aspect of the fee structure is that it remains transparent and predictable, allowing students and their families to estimate educational expenses in advance. Unlike many institutions where additional charges significantly increase the overall cost, the major components of expenditure at IET Lucknow are clearly defined through tuition, hostel, and mess fees. Overall, the fee structure at IET Lucknow reflects the institute’s position as a government engineering college that seeks to balance affordability with academic quality. The combination of moderate tuition fees, reasonably priced hostel accommodation, and accessible residential facilities makes the institute a financially practical choice for students seeking engineering education without the substantial financial burden often associated with private institutions. For many aspirants across Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states, this affordability remains one of the key factors contributing to the institute’s continued popularity.

Sports Complex

One of the most noticeable features of the institute is its greenery. The campus contains a large number of trees, open spaces, and green patches, giving it a calm and pleasant appearance throughout the year. Unlike many colleges located in congested areas, IET provides students with a relatively open environment that contributes positively to daily campus life. The institute has an extensive hostel system with around 11–12 hostels for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Hostel allocation is generally organized according to the year of study and student category. Ramanujan Hostel is typically allotted to first-year boys, while Aryabhatta Hostel is commonly assigned to second-year students. Separate hostel facilities are available for female students, including Sarojini Hostel for first-year girls and Maitri Hostel for senior students. A significant advantage of the campus layout is the short distance between hostels and academic buildings. In most cases, students can reach their classrooms, laboratories, and departments within a few minutes. The distance rarely becomes a concern, and students generally do not need to spend excessive time commuting within the campus. The hostel mess provides food that is generally considered decent and suitable for everyday consumption. While individual preferences may vary, the mess is capable of meeting the regular dining requirements of students residing on campus. Basic amenities required for day-to-day student life are also available within easy reach. Being located within Lucknow city, the institute benefits from good accessibility and urban convenience. Students can easily access online services, and platforms such as Zepto, Blinkit, and various food delivery applications operate efficiently in the area. As a result, groceries, food items, medicines, and other daily essentials can be delivered directly to the campus without difficulty. Apart from academics, the institute regularly hosts technical, cultural, and extracurricular activities throughout the year. Students participate in competitions, workshops, club activities, and cultural programmes that contribute to campus engagement. The flagship annual festival, Encore, is one of the most prominent events at IET Lucknow and serves as a major platform for cultural performances, student participation, and various co-curricular activities. Academically, the institute follows a structured engineering curriculum while maintaining an attendance requirement of approximately 50 percent. This provides students with a reasonable level of flexibility to balance academics with skill development, project work, internships, and other learning opportunities outside the classroom. Although some academic and hostel buildings reflect the age of the institution and may appear older compared to recently established universities, the infrastructure remains functional and continues to support the needs of a large student community. Overall, IET Lucknow offers a green and well-connected campus environment with organized hostel facilities, convenient accessibility, active student life, and a balanced academic atmosphere, making it a comfortable place for engineering students to pursue their education.

Bank of Baroda Inside IET Lucknow Campus

There is a Bank of Baroda inside the college campus, and it is right next to the auditorium where the counseling takes place. And the most important thing is that if by chance you forget to bring your DD (demand draft) at the time of admission, you can get it made from here instantly.

college media

You won't see much crowd in the bank, and people from outside also come here, meaning this bank is not just for college students but for outsiders too. And this bank opens on its normal government timings and opens every day. Some staff members have a bit of an attitude, but some are good too and get the work done. So overall the bank facility is good, and you will have a lot of work with this bank in the future once you reach the college because mainly a lot of things happen right from here.
